Friday night at Adventure 16 in West Los Angeles. A fortuitous event was scheduled, and my friend Robin and I went.A mountaineer who operates out of Bishop was doing a slide show and talking about his experiences in Nepal, Tibet, and summiting Mt. Everest. The talk was long, but inspiring. His images of Kathmandu and the mountainous villages are very similar to what I will be experiencing, including the small plane as transport.
It is more real with each day that I will be embarking upon this trip. I am beyond two distinct layers of the ever-familiar fear of the unknown, and am relishing the experience of happy anticipation. Yes, the ever-chill Mary is allowing herself some genuine enthusiasm.
