It is Sunday, November 4th, which means ten days until I leave for Nepal. Since it was my birthday yesterday, many friends and family called yesterday and inquired about the trip as well as sending me love. (Thanks!) It is a novel experience for me to have this much accountability in my life.
Last week I met a number of the people going on this trip, and heard more about the work that Jeffrey and Ellen are doing with the Madave Ghimire Foundation. http://www.ghimirefoundation.org/
There were a lot of questions answered about the trip, the places we will be visiting, and what it is like to go into homes and communities where few outsiders visit. Some of my reservations were related to traveling with a group and the dynamics surrounding that kind of experience. Thus far, my initials fears are alleviated, and I feel a great sense of joy about this endeavor.
I will not be able to write while traveling, but intend to use this space to keep those dear to me informed about what I experience throughout this journey.
